A revista Film Comment, publicada pela Film Society of Lincoln Center, como é tradição, divulgou os melhores filmes do ano 2014, escolhidos por mais de 100 críticos norte-americanos. O top reuniu algumas surpresas assim como algumas confirmações, como é o caso do novo filme de Richard Linklater, Boyhood [ler crítica], que lidera, sendo seguido por Adeus à Linguagem, de Jean-Luc Godard, Grand Budapest Hotel [ler crítica] e Ida [ler crítica]. Entre os filmes mais inesperados, contamos com os documentários Manakamana e National Gallery.
A mesma publicação divulgou também outro top, referente aos 20 melhores filmes do ano que ainda não têm distribuição nos EUA. O preferido foi La Meraviglie (As Maravilhas), de Alice Rohrwacher, enquanto Hill of Freedom [ler crítica], de Hong Sang-soo e Pasolini [ler crítica], Abel Ferrara, completam o “pódio”.
