Já são conhecidos os vencedores dos prémios BAFTA (Academia Britânica para a sétima arte e a televisão).
Numa cerimónia realizada à momentos, marcada pelo regresso da cor negra aos fatos e vestidos dos convidados – num novo protesto contra os casos de assédio sexual na indústria do cinema-, The Shape of Water (A Forma da Água), era o mais nomeado, com 12 indicações, mas acabou por perder o prémio que mais ambicionava: o de melhor filme, entregue a Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri (Três cartazes à beira da estrada).
O filme de Martin McDonagh, que perdeu o prémio de realização para Guillermo Del Toro, recebeu ainda a distinção de Melhor Filme Britânico, Melhor Atriz (Frances McDormand), Melhor Ator Secundário (Sam Rockwell) e Melhor Argumento Original (McDonagh). Para além da realização, A Forma da Àgua levou ainda para casa os prémios de design de produção e banda-sonora.
Também multipremiado temos temos Darkest Hour (A Hora mais Negra), que conquistou o prémio de melhor ator (Gary Oldman) e melhor caracterização, e Blade Runner 2049 (Melhores Efeitos Visuais e Melhor Cinematografia).
Dunkirk levou conquistou o prémio de melhor som, Phantom Thread (Linha Fantasma) o de melhor guarda-roupa, Baby Driver o de melhor montagem, The Handmaiden (A Criada) o de melhor filme estrangeiro, enquanto Coco foi a melhor animação.
