Os vencedores dos últimos Festivais de Berlim e Cannes se irão defrontar nos European Film Awards, cuja as nomeações acabam de ser reveladas no Festival de Cinema Europeu de Sevilha. Os galardoados On Body and Soul [ler crítica], o ultimo de Aki Kaurismäki (The Other Side of Hope [ler crítica]), 120 Battements par Minute, Loveless [ler crítica] e The Square compete a estatueta principal, e no caso do mais recente filme de Ruben Östlund, o mais nomeado aos prémios, contando com 5 indicações.
Outros destacados são Lady Macbeth [ler crítica], de William Oldroyd, uma primeira longa-metragem que conquista duas nomeações, a de melhor atriz (Florence Pugh) e do prémio Descoberta, e a animação artística Loving Vicente [ler crítica e entrevista] como forte concorrente na distinção de Longa-Metragem de animação.
